Here's a Japanese rarity: a smoked black tea. It originates from Shimada in Shizuoka prefecture. Environmentally minded and health-conscious, the producer, Mr Matsumoto, uses an ancestral method of ecological fertilisation for his gardens, the Chagusaba.
Inspired by the classic Chinese Lapsang Souchong tea, the result is more delicate and aromatic, closer to the taste of a good Scotch. This is also due to the fact that the leaves are smoked for between 6 and 8 hours using wood chips from Japanese whisky barrels.
The liquor boasts a rich texture and powerful sweet peaty flavours. The tea is particularly smooth, without bitterness and has a pleasant tangy finish.
An excellent option for alcohol-free food pairings.
Blueberry Pie is everything you expect it to be. Lightly sweet with real plump blueberries. Excellent as a tea and even better as a tea latte. Steeps a beautiful purplish blue.

We are honoured to be part of this story and proud to have provided the tea that helped fuel many of the workers that built the legendary Titanic. To commemorate this, we have created a special blend of the finest teas grown in Assam (India) and Kenya to transport you back to a very special era.
The Assam leaves are picked during the peak quality months and vacuum packed to lock in their flavour. Our Kenyan leaves are sourced solely from East of the Rift Valley, where Kenya’s most prestigious estates are found. Thompson’s Titanic Tea, a truly luxurious blend.
